About the Journal

The presence of a study center within a university serves as a vital supporting element that demonstrates the university's existence and relevance within the community. The plan to establish the Center for Law and Gender Studies at the Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) aims to elevate UIR's role as a center of excellence for Law and Gender development at the international level. This initiative is grounded in noble national cultural values and based on faith and piety, aligned with UIR’s vision and mission.

Urgency of Establishing the Center for Law and Gender Studies at UIR

The establishment of this center is driven by several critical factors:

  • The prevalence of sexual harassment cases against women and children in educational, familial, and social environments.

  • The increasing number of criminal cases regarding the Trafficking of Women and Children in Riau.

  • Rising cases of Domestic Violence (KDRT), where the majority of victims are women and children.

  • The increasing divorce rate in religious courts.

  • The rise of LGBT cases having a negative impact on children.

  • The overall increase in violence against women and children.
