Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Journal of Islamic and Contemporary Psychology (JICOP).

Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Islam Riau, Indonesia. 

A. General Rules

1. Manuscripts or articles which published in Journal of Islamic and Contemporary Psychology (JICOP) includes General Contemporary Psychology topics and studies which suggested to integrated with Islamic or Local Wisdom Values in Discussion chapter. Consists of Subjects such as: Basic/Experimental Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Core of Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology and Medicine, Measurement in Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology and Human Resources Management, Neuroscience and Cognition, Social Psychology and Social Processes.  The articles based on empirical research and non-empirical research (such as library research, theoretical and literature review) following to Journal's Focus and Scope.

2. Articles which submitted to Journal of Islamic and Contemporary Psychology (JICOP) have not been published in another journals or another media, or submitted proces to the other journals or another media.

3. The manuscripts from thesis or dissertation should included a recommendation letter from supervisor lecturer (promotor) as declare statement that the manuscripts deserves sent to Journal of Islamic and Contemporary Psychology (JICOP). The manuscripts will be review by Mitra Bebestari (reviewers) anonymously, and given an acceptable / Accepted with no revision, declined, or received/accepted with revision.

4. The author should revise the manuscript/article based on feedback (double blind peer review results) from Mitra Bebestari (reviewers) within the time limit from the Editorial Team.


5. The Editorial Board/Team has the right to improve the content and the script of the manuscripts/articles without altering the substance of the contents.

6. The references, quoting, citation, or referral source in manuscripts, should be preferred from literatures in the last 5-10 years. References should be preferred from primary sources of national and international books and journals.

7. Anything involving license, quoting, citation, or using computer software for the production of a manuscript/article from writers; authors, as well as the legal consequences, the authors take for any legal consequences for this condition.

Manuscript submitted to the Journal of Islamic and Contemporary Psychology (JICOP) should have not been published or submitted in other journals.

B.1. Writing Guideline

TITLE AND AUTHOR(S)

FONT: ARIAL 12 (for the title)

FONT: ARIAL 11 (for author/s name)

FONT: ARIAL 10 (for Corresponding author)

The maximum words of the title are 15 words (if manuscript in Indonesian) or 12 words (if manuscript in English). The author’s name is written without any academic degree, along with the institution affiliation, mailing address, and email, below the title. If the authors are more than 3, all author’s names are written along with their affiliations and put only the email address of the first author or corresponding author.

ABSTRACT AND KEYWORDS

FONT: ARIAL 11

Abstract is written concisely and factually, includes the purpose of research, the method of research, the result and conclusion of research. Abstract is written in English and Indonesian language. Keywords contains fundamental ideas or basic concepts that represent the topics researched.

Margin is 2.5 cm for top (header) and 2 cm for bottom (footer), left and right sides. The number of words is around 3.500-5.000 (exclude references), in A4 (21 cm x 29.7 cm) paper size, and use 1.15 spaces

1. INTRODUCTION

FONT: ARIAL SIZE 12, 2 COLUMN.

This section provides research background or context, research problem and purpose, theoretical review related to the problem, and  hypotheses or research question, or state of art the manuscript. Introduction have the portion of 15-20% of the article.

2. METHOD

FONT: ARIAL SIZE 12, 2 COLUMN.

This section includes research design and subjects, data collection, research procedure, and analysis techniques.

3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

FONT: ARIAL SIZE 12, 2 COLUMN.

This section consists of final data analysis, hypothetical testing, research question’s answers, and findings. Discussion involves results interpretation, comparison to other research and theories, and research implications.

4. CONCLUSION

FONT: ARIAL SIZE 12, 2 COLUMN.

This section contains research conclusion and suggestions made based on the findings, aimed to certain parties with operational suggestions in short paragraphs.

REFERENCES

FONT: ARIAL SIZE 12, 2 COLUMN.

The references provides literature information used in the article with 80% primary and current literature (from journal articles and research) and 20% textual citations (maximum 10 years). We suggest to cited a minimum of 30 references in the article.

 

B. 2. Writing Format

1. Articles written in Indonesian or English with Arial letter on A4 paper, according to APA Style 7th Edition.

2. Cover contains the title of the article (written in the middle with the Title Arial-bold size 12. Name of author (without academic degree), name and address of the institution, email writer (first author or corresponding author) and abstract, Arial size 11 for abstract and Arial size 10 for author/s name and corresponding email.

3. Subtitles are written in the center, as sub of subtitle is written align text left, with Title case Arial-bold size 12 except the liaison.

4. Abstract is written in one paragraph, in two languages namely Indonesian and English. Abstract in English using italics letters. Maximum word of abstract are 200 words in one paragraph, font Arial 11. Keywords is writen with 3-5 words.

5. Each table or picture is given sequence number, title, according to table and image contents, and citation source if any. The source of the quotation is written below the table or picture, the Arial font size of 10. Title The table is written on top of the table and the title of the image is written underneath the image.

6. All pages including tables and references are given page number.

7. The source of the citation in the text is written in the parentheses that mentions the author's last name, the year with the comma, and the page number if needed.

Example:

  • If the citation from a single source and author: (Miler, 2007), or (Miler, 2007, h. 27).
  • If the citation from a single source with two authors: (Peterson & Seligman, 2004).
  • If the citation from a single source with three or more authors, the first writing is written entirely (Wentzel, Caldwell, & McNamara-Barry, 2004) and subsequent quotes with et al (Wentzel et al., 2004)
  • If the citation from two different sources with the same author: (Peterson, 2004,2008), if the same year (Peterson, 2004a, 2004b).
  • If the citation from the institution: (UIN, 2010).
  • The references is written alphabetically according to the last name (without an academic degree), both Indonesian and foreign writers. The references use reference manager like mendeley or EndNote, or at least references fitur in microsoft word.
