Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of positive school culture at SMP Negeri 2 Palangka Raya in shaping students’ character. Although the concept of school culture has been widely studied, most research remains normative and lacks contextual exploration of its practical implementation, particularly in non-urban secondary schools. This study employed a qualitative approach using an intrinsic case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of positive culture is carried out through four main aspects: a supportive school climate, relatively consistent enforcement of school rules, habituation through structured routine activities, and ceremonial activities as a medium for value internalization. However, the implementation tends to remain at a structural and routine level and has not been fully internalized as students’ intrinsic awareness. This study contributes to the literature on school culture by highlighting the gap between formal implementation and value internalization. The findings imply the need for more reflective and participatory approaches in strengthening positive culture in schools.
