Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 10-point font Times New Roman; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Manuscript Eligibility

  • ☐ The manuscript is an original work and has not been published previously.
  • ☐ The manuscript is not under review or submitted to another journal.
  • ☐ The manuscript falls within the aims and scope of the UIR Law Review.
  • ☐ All authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.

Manuscript Structure

  • ☐ Title clearly reflects the content of the study.
  • ☐ Authors' names, affiliations, and email addresses are provided.
  • ☐ An abstract is included.
  • ☐ Keywords are provided.
  • ☐ The Introduction includes:
    • ☐ Background of the study
    • ☐ Brief literature review/state of the art
    • ☐ Research question(s)
    • ☐ Research method (if applicable)
    • ☐ Main argument or objective of the study
  • ☐ The Discussion is organized logically and systematically.
  • ☐ The Conclusion addresses the research question(s) without introducing new references.
  • ☐ Acknowledgments, Funding Information, and Conflict of Interest statements are included where applicable.

Formatting Requirements

  • ☐ Font: Times New Roman (10pt)
  • ☐ Line spacing: 1 (single)
  • ☐ Paragraph spacing: Before 0 pt and After 0 pt.
  • ☐ Minimum length of manuscript is 6,000 words (excluding references).
  • ☐ Tables and figures are numbered, titled, and include source information where applicable.
  • ☐ First-person pronouns ("I", "we") are avoided; use "this article" or "this paper" instead.

References and Citation

  • ☐ The manuscript contains at least 25 references.
  • ☐ Approximately 30% of the references are books.
  • ☐ Approximately 70% of the references are journal articles.
  • ☐ Primary legal sources (legislation, regulations, and court decisions) are properly cited where relevant.
  • ☐ Citations and references follow the Chicago Manual Style 17th edition (full note) consistently.
  • ☐ Every in-text citation appears in the reference list, and all references are cited in the text.
  • ☐ DOI or URL information is included where available.

Final Quality Check

  • ☐ Grammar, spelling, and punctuation have been thoroughly checked.
  • ☐ Headings, numbering, tables, and figures are consistently formatted.
  • ☐ All abbreviations are defined upon first use.
  • ☐ The manuscript has been proofread for clarity and readability.
  • ☐ The final file is saved in an acceptable format (.doc, .docx, .odt, or .rtf).

Submission Readiness

  • ☐ An active account has been created in the UIR Law Review Open Journal System (OJS).
  • ☐ All manuscript metadata (title, abstract, keywords, author details, and references) are prepared for online submission.
  • ☐ Author affiliations and contact information are complete and accurate.
  • ☐ The final manuscript file is ready for upload.
  • ☐ All required supplementary documents (if any) are prepared before submission.

 

Final Confirmation

☐ I confirm that this manuscript complies with the submission requirements of the UIR Law Review and is ready for submission.
