Abstract

Drainage as a building complementary to the road like a sideway canal as a surface drainage to accommodate and flow water when heavy rain arrives long enough. The existence of the Public Works Service and the establishment of the Town Hall of Pekanbaru as an implementing element to assist the mayor in carrying out the governmental affairs in the field of Public Works and Space Planning led by the Chief of the Department, in the drainage problem which is one of the causes of the occurrence of stagnation or flood for it needs to be handled in dealing with it so as not to occur excessive stagnations. The purpose of this research is to find out the task of the Public Works Service and Urban Planning in the improvement of drainage, and to know what any of the impeding factors that are obstacles to the Public Work Service and urban Planning. The method used is the quantitative method, the sample is thirty-one, the head of the Section of Construction, the officer of 10 people, the construction officer is seven people and the water resource officer three people. As for the technique used in determining the individual sample, the census technique is for the Head of the Construction Planning Section, for the staff of the Service using the technique of pourpusive sampling, and for the community using the accidental sample technique. Data analysis techniques are used with the results of observations, questionnaires, interviews, documentation which then the data is processed and analyzed to explain the purposes of the research, then it can be concluded that the Public Works Service and Urban Area Planning is in the category Good enough, with the percentage of respondents of the Department with the percent of respondent of the Service 51% while for the public respondents with 60%. This can be seen from the implementation of Public Works and Urban Space Planning in the effort to manage the existing drainage is not blocked.
