Kinerja Pengelolaan Sampah pada Unit Pelaksanaan Teknis (UPT) Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Bengkalis (Studi di Kecamatan Mandau)

Abstract

This research is motivated by waste management issues caused by a lack of public awareness, limited infrastructure, and minimal recycling initiatives, which have the potential to pollute the environment and spread diseases. The purpose of this study is to understand and analyze the performance of waste management at the Environmental Technical Implementation Unit in Mandau District. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. It involves 18 informants, consisting of 3 key informants and 15 supporting informants. Two techniques were used to select the informants for this study: the census technique (saturated sampling) for the Head of the Waste Management Unit, the Environmental Agency, the District, and the Cleaning and Operational Task Force; and purposive sampling for household heads. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the level of waste management at the Waste Management Technical Implementation Unit in Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency, needs significant improvement based on the indicators of Collection, Transportation, and Final Disposal.
