Peer Review Process

Journal of Islamic Finance and Accounting Research (JAFAR) is a peer-reviewed journal. Every manuscript submitted to JAFAR is evaluated through a review process designed to maintain academic quality, fairness, and confidentiality. Editors and reviewers assess manuscripts objectively based on their relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, originality, methodological rigor, and contribution to the development of knowledge in Islamic finance and accounting research.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening. At this stage, the Editorial Team evaluates whether the manuscript complies with the journal’s author guidelines, writing format, and general suitability for publication in JAFAR. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s basic requirements may be returned to the author or declined before being sent for further review.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to reviewers with relevant expertise. In line with JAFAR’s publication ethics, the review process is conducted anonymously, where the identity of the author is not disclosed to reviewers and the identity of reviewers is not disclosed to authors. This process is intended to support an objective and impartial evaluation.

Reviewers are asked to evaluate the substance of the manuscript in accordance with the journal’s focus and scope and to provide constructive comments and recommendations. Reviewers may also notify the editor if they identify ethical concerns, procedural problems, overlap with other works, or potential conflicts of interest. All manuscripts and information obtained during the review process must be treated as confidential.

Based on reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

The editorial decision will be communicated to the author together with the reviewers’ comments, except where comments are considered personal or inappropriate. Revised manuscripts may be reassessed by the editor and, where necessary, returned to the reviewers for further evaluation.

Authors are expected to revise and resubmit their manuscripts carefully by addressing all reviewer comments in a clear and systematic manner. During the review process, authors are also expected to maintain publication ethics, including originality, exclusive submission, and accuracy of the reported work.

To uphold research integrity, JAFAR also provides a plagiarism screening policy page and requires authors to follow the journal’s submission and formatting requirements before peer review proceeds.
