Abstract

This study aimed to assess the levels of mathematics anxiety and interest among fifth-grade students in preparation for the Computer-Based National Assessment (ANBK). Employing a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected from 60 students at SDIP YLPI Pekanbaru using a structured, closed-ended questionnaire designed to measure both anxiety and interest levels related to mathematics learning. The findings revealed a range of responses, with a significant number of students experiencing moderate to high anxiety, while interest levels varied from moderate to low among many participants. These results highlight the need for educators to implement targeted interventions aimed at reducing anxiety and increasing student interest in mathematics. Strategies that focus on personalized support can help build students’ confidence, reducing feelings of apprehension and improving their overall academic experience. Additionally, incorporating interactive and enjoyable teaching methods, supported by adequate resources and learning media provided by schools, is crucial to fostering a positive learning environment. Such efforts are vital to better prepare students for the challenges of the ANBK and to promote sustained interest in mathematics.
