Abstract

This study aims to analyze Russia’s strategy in constructing and disseminating digital propaganda narratives related to the denazification of Ukraine, and its impact on international perceptions. The research is motivated by the urgency of understanding how digital information warfare operates within contemporary geopolitical dynamics. Employing realism theory and the concept of propaganda, this study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research object includes digital content from pro-government Russian news media such as Russia Today (RT), Sputnik News, and TASS during the period 2021–2025. No human informants were involved; instead, the study relies on secondary data comprising digital media documentation, scholarly articles, reports, and journal publications. Data were collected using literature review and documentation methods, while the analysis was conducted through a modified inductive narrative technique. The findings indicate that Russia systematically frames Ukraine as a state infiltrated by neo-Nazi ideology to justify military intervention on historical and moral grounds. The propaganda strategy involves anti-fascist symbolism, historical rhetoric, emotional visualization, and structured disinformation amplified by digital algorithms. These narratives shape domestic opinion and simultaneously construct a counter-discourse to Western narratives, particularly in Global South countries. Thus, digital propaganda functions as a strategic foreign policy instrument for Russia in shaping international legitimacy and influencing the global geopolitical reality.
