The Role of Chemistry in Modern Farming: Bridging Agriculture and Sustainable Development
Abstract
Chemistry plays an important role in farming and plantation activities. This extends to the discovery and use of inorganic and organic compounds (many of which are not chemically identified but are indirectly utilized through best practices and passed down through generations) that boost plant growth and inhibit pests and other forms of damage. The evolution of agriculture, from early farming methods to modern scientific techniques, highlights the impact of chemical compounds on enhancing plant health and the development of smart farming technologies. These chemical innovations contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on sustainability, environmental protection, and agricultural efficiency.
