Abstrak

Research entitled Effect of Kiambang Compost (Pistia stratiotes) and Empty Fruit Bunch Ash on Growth and Production of Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) on peat media had been conducted at the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agricultre, Islamic University of Riau. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of kiambang compost and Empty Fruit Bunch Ash on the growth and production of shallots on peat media. This study used a completely randomized design consisting of two factors. The first factor was kiambang compost consisted of 4 levels of treatment with doses of 0, 15, 30 and 45 g per polybag. The second factor was Empty Fruit Bunch Ash comprised of 4 levels with a dose of 0.37, 5; 75 and 112,5 g per polybag. The treatment combinations were 16 treatments with 3 replications, obtained 48 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 9 plants, so obtained 432 plants. The data were analyzed statistically and followed by test of Honesty Significant Difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results of this study were the combination of kiambang compost and oil palm bunch ash affected all parameters with the best combination of kiambang compost at a dose of 45 g per polybag and oil palm bunch ash 112.5 g per polybag.
