Assistance for Village Government Organization in Terengganu Malaysia in Preserving Customs

Abstract

Riau Province is a very strategic province because it borders directly with neighboring Malaysia and Songapore. This position makes Indonesia a strategic route for international trade. In addition, interaction and relations with neighboring countries are particularly strong. This article describes these cultural values that need to be developed and preserved by the government and village or state institutions in the State of Trengganu Darul Iman. The application of Malay culture is identical to religious values (Islam). The method used is Focus Group Discussion by maximizing the exchange of information, strategies in preserving customs in the State of Kedah. The results of the community service activities provide a solution that there is a need to increase public understanding of Malay wisdom and culture through empowerment programs carried out by the government. In addition, building cooperation with indigenous communities in the Terengganu State to enrich the diversity of customs. The state government can also make efforts to assist the village government apparatus in the Terengganu State in compiling village government programs in accordance with local wisdom and the development of Malay culture.
