Manuscript Types

MEDIUM accepts original scholarly manuscripts in communication studies that demonstrate originality, methodological rigor, and a clear contribution to communication theory, research, or practice.

The journal considers the following manuscript types:

  1. Original Research Articles

Reports of original empirical research using qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches. Manuscripts must present a clearly defined research problem, relevant theoretical or conceptual foundations, appropriate research methods, analytical findings, and a discussion of the study's contribution to communication scholarship.

  1. Review Articles

Systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and critical literature reviews that provide a rigorous synthesis of existing scholarship, identify research gaps, and offer meaningful theoretical or empirical implications for communication studies. Review manuscripts must clearly explain their review approach and analytical procedures.

  1. Theoretical and Conceptual Articles

Manuscripts that develop, critically examine, or integrate communication theories and concepts. These articles must present a clear scholarly argument and demonstrate an original contribution, such as a theoretical proposition, conceptual framework, or substantive synthesis of existing perspectives.

All manuscripts are subject to editorial screening and peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial policies. Acceptance depends on relevance to the journal's scope, originality, methodological or analytical rigor, ethical compliance, and contribution to the advancement of communication studies.
