Abstract

Clean water is one of the primary resources used by the community for daily needs. The quality of groundwater is influenced by environmental factors and human activities in the surrounding area. This study aims to evaluate the quality of groundwater within the premises of University X, based on physical and chemical parameters, with reference to the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017 and Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021. Water samples were collected from 10 locations using a purposive sampling method. Referring to the water quality standards issued by the Ministry of Environment, the physical and chemical parameters tested include temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS), turbidity, odor, pH, dissolved iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), nitrite (NO₂⁻), nitrate (NO₃⁻), and hardness (CaCO). The results indicate that all tested parameters fall within the permissible limits for Class I water quality, as regulated by existing laws. However, several samples showed iron levels approaching the maximum allowable threshold, indicating a need for further treatment. This study provides essential insights into the current state of groundwater quality at University X and can serve as a foundation for developing effective water resource management strategies in the area.
