Publication Ethics and Malpractices Guidelines of Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur

Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes scientific articles in various areas of aquaculture. The journal covers fish and shrimp farming techniques and systems, water quality and aquatic environmental management, aquatic nutrition and feed technology, aquatic animal health and diseases, aquaculture biotechnology, aquaculture governance, and the application of environmentally responsible aquaculture technologies. Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur is committed to maintaining ethical standards for all parties involved in the publication process.

Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, and Editorial Board of Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur

Responsibilities

Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur has an editorial team consisting of an Editor-in-Chief, a Managing Editor, and a Board of Editors. All members of the editorial team must demonstrate accountability and responsibility in managing and publishing articles in Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur. The Editor-in-Chief leads the editorial team. The editors of Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur have the following duties and responsibilities:

1. The Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor receive articles submitted by authors to Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur.
2. The Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor distributes submitted articles to members of the Board of Editors for the first review process or initial review. The Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor regulates the distribution of articles to ensure that the editorial workload remains fairly distributed among all editors. Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur applies a double-blind peer-review system using the Referee’s Appraisal Form.
3. During the review process, the designated editor conducts the initial review. The editor subsequently sends the article to at least two independent external reviewers for the second review process. The reviewers submit their evaluation results to the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor. Based on the review results, the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor determines whether the article is accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected and communicates the decision to the author.
4. When reviewers require revisions, the editor may conduct another review process by following the procedures described in points 2 and 3.
5. The Editor-in-Chief determines the deadline for receiving final articles that are ready for publication.
6. The Editor-in-Chief organizes and leads Editorial Board meetings. The Editorial Board conducts at least one meeting for each journal issue to finalize the articles scheduled for publication. When the Editor-in-Chief cannot attend the meeting, the Editor-in-Chief may assign the Managing Editor or another editor to perform the relevant duties.

Fairness

The editorial team makes publication decisions through the peer-review mechanism described above. The editorial team considers the scientific quality, originality, relevance, validity, and contribution of each article. The editorial team makes decisions without discrimination based on the authors’ religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, gender, institutional affiliation, political views, or other personal characteristics.

Confidentiality

The editorial team must maintain the confidentiality of every article before publication. The editors of Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur must not disclose information concerning a submitted article to any party other than the authors, reviewers, prospective reviewers, relevant members of the Editorial Board, and the publisher.

An editor may disclose information contained in an article to another editor of Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur only with the knowledge and approval of the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished materials contained in submitted articles for personal research or other purposes without written permission from the authors. Editors must also maintain the confidentiality of all ideas, data, and information obtained through the editorial process.

The editors of Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur must manage potential conflicts of interest transparently. An editor who has a personal, professional, financial, institutional, or academic conflict of interest with an author or manuscript must withdraw from the editorial process. Another editor who has no conflict of interest must manage the article.

The editorial team must make publication decisions fairly and base them on the results of the peer-review process.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Reviewers provide scientific evaluations that serve as an important basis for the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor in making editorial decisions. Reviewers’ evaluations also assist authors in improving the scientific quality, clarity, accuracy, relevance, and presentation of their articles.

Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, clear, and evidence-based comments. Reviewers must not include personal criticism, offensive language, or discriminatory statements in their evaluation reports.

Appropriateness

A reviewer who believes that they do not possess sufficient expertise to evaluate an article must immediately inform the responsible editor, Editor-in-Chief, or Managing Editor.

A reviewer who cannot complete the review within the specified period must also notify the editor promptly. The Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor may appoint another reviewer after considering recommendations from editors who possess expertise relevant to the article.

Confidentiality

Reviewers must treat every article received for review as a confidential document. Reviewers must not disclose, discuss, reproduce, distribute, or use the article and its contents for personal, academic, or commercial purposes.

Reviewers must submit their evaluation results to the responsible editor, Editor-in-Chief, or Managing Editor through the journal’s official review system. Reviewers must not communicate review results directly to the authors unless the editor grants explicit permission.

Objectivity

Reviewers must conduct reviews objectively and base their recommendations on scientific considerations. Reviewers must explain their assessments clearly and support their comments with appropriate arguments, evidence, or references.

Reviewers must evaluate the manuscript based on its scholarly quality and must avoid personal criticism of the authors.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works that the authors have not cited. Reviewers should inform the editor when they identify substantial similarities or overlaps between the reviewed article and other published or submitted works.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must not review articles when they have personal, financial, professional, institutional, or academic conflicts of interest with the authors, institutions, research sponsors, or research described in the article.

Reviewers must not use unpublished information, arguments, data, methods, or interpretations obtained through the peer-review process for personal benefit.

Responsibilities of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors must clearly present the objectives, methods, results, significance, and scientific contribution of their research. Authors must present accurate data and provide sufficient information to allow other researchers to evaluate, verify, or replicate the study.

Authors must follow the author guidelines of Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur when preparing and submitting their articles. Authors must not manipulate, fabricate, falsify, selectively omit, or misrepresent research data and findings.

Originality

Authors must submit original research results that have not been published in another journal or publication. Authors should check the originality of their articles using plagiarism-detection software before submission.

Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur will reject an article when the editorial team identifies plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, data manipulation, or another serious violation of publication ethics.

Authors must cite all information, concepts, data, figures, tables, methods, and statements obtained from other sources honestly, accurately, and appropriately.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submissions

Authors must submit an article exclusively to Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur during the editorial and peer-review process.

Authors must not submit the same article simultaneously to another journal. Authors may submit the article to another journal only after Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur officially rejects the article or confirms the withdrawal of the article.

Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur will reject articles involving plagiarism, duplicate publication, redundant publication, or concurrent submission.

Authorship

The author list must include only individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, implementation, data collection, data analysis, interpretation, or writing of the research.

All individuals who have made significant contributions must receive appropriate recognition. The corresponding author must ensure that all listed authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the article and agreed to its submission to Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur.

Authors must not engage in guest authorship, honorary authorship, gift authorship, or ghost authorship.

Data Access and Retention

The editorial team may ask authors to provide raw data, research instruments, ethical approval documents, permits, or other supporting materials during the review process.

Authors must retain research data for a reasonable period after publication. Authors should provide access to the data when legitimate scientific or ethical considerations require it, subject to confidentiality, privacy, intellectual property, and legal restrictions.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose all financial, institutional, professional, personal, or other relationships that could influence the research process, analysis, interpretation, or presentation of the findings.

Authors must identify all sources of financial support and explain the role of research funders or sponsors in the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and publication of the research.

Errors in Publication

Authors will receive the final version of their article for proofreading before publication. Authors must carefully examine the article and report any errors to the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor within the specified period.

Authors must list each correction clearly in a separate document and provide the corrected information or evidence of revision.

When authors identify a significant error or inaccuracy after publication, they must immediately inform the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor and cooperate in publishing a correction, clarification, retraction, or other appropriate notice.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

UIR Press, as the publisher of Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur, encourages editors, reviewers, authors, and all parties involved in the publication process to comply with applicable publication ethics and professional codes of conduct.

UIR Press defines the professional relationship among the publisher, editors, reviewers, authors, and other parties involved in the publication process. UIR Press respects privacy, protects intellectual property rights and copyright, and supports editorial independence.

UIR Press works with the editors of Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur to establish, implement, evaluate, and periodically revise journal policies. These policies particularly address editorial independence, research ethics, confidentiality, informed consent, human and animal research, authorship, transparency, data integrity, conflicts of interest, corrections, clarifications, and retractions.

UIR Press also supports the publication of corrections, clarifications, expressions of concern, and retractions when necessary. UIR Press ensures that Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur publishes its content accurately and according to the established publication schedule.

Animal Ethics

Jurnal Dinamika Akuakultur and its editors require authors to comply with recognized principles for the ethical treatment, care, and use of experimental animals.

Authors should follow the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals issued by the Institute for Laboratory Animal Research of the National Research Council or other relevant national and international animal welfare guidelines.

Authors must obtain approval from an authorized animal ethics committee before conducting research involving animals. Authors must clearly state the ethical approval number, issuing institution, and approval date in the article.

Authors must apply appropriate procedures to minimize animal pain, stress, suffering, injury, and mortality. Authors must also describe animal handling, maintenance, anesthesia, euthanasia, and experimental procedures transparently.
