The Influence of Social Media on Decision-Making Processes in the Iraqi Parliament and the Issues It Affects

Social media has experienced exponential growth over the past decade and is now recognized as a valuable tool for influencing decision-making on common societal issues in Iraq. The main objective of this paper is to highlight the impact of social media on decision-making on many common issues from the point of view of members of the Iraqi parliament. A series of interviews was conducted to enhance the data of the participants in this study. A set of thematic data analytics was guided by NVivo8 software. Finding an understanding of practices related to the impact of social media use on decision-making within the legislative institution represented in the Iraqi parliament for many common issues. The results of this study indicate a significant impact of social media on decision-making regarding many common issues, including political, economic, and social concerns.
