Abstract

Adaptation involves modifying a test instrument from one language or culture to another, ensuring it remains valid and is understood to be used in a different context while maintaining its validity according to the original construct. The Stanford Social Dimensions Scale (SSDS) is a tool for measuring social skills for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) across five key dimensions: Social Motivation, Social Affiliation, Expressive Social Communication, Social Recognition, and Unusual Approach. According to DSM-5, individuals with ASD exhibit two core deficits in social communication and interaction, along with restricted, repetitive behaviors and interests. This study involved adapting the SSDS into Indonesian with a sample of 355 respondents. The findings confirmed that the Indonesian version of the SSDS is valid and reliable for measuring social skills in individuals with ASD in Indonesia. This adaptation maintains fidelity and consistency to the original construct. These findings suggest that the adapted SSDS can serve as an effective tool for assessing social dimensions in this population.
