Abstract

Abstract

The Vina Cirebon case is a rape and murder case that has triggered social unrest and prompted demands for legal reconstruction in Indonesia. This paper analyzes the Vina Cirebon case as a real example of injustice and slow response in the Indonesian criminal justice system. The purpose of this case analysis is to present the facts left out by the authorities, identify weaknesses and loopholes in the law that contributed to the injustice of this case, and discuss solutions to reconstruct a just and responsive law from this case. Legal reform to broaden the definition and increase penalties and strengthen the mechanism for protecting witnesses and victims as a solution to reconstruct a just and responsive law in Indonesia. Increasing education and public awareness, especially among students, regarding the law to increase legal awareness for students in behaving. The Vina Cirebon case is proof that the Indonesian legal system does not yet have justice and a good response. By reconstructing a just and responsive law in Indonesia, it is hoped that a safe environment can be created for the lower classes of society.
