Abstract

Psychological elements namely introvert and extrovert personality types, are currently one of the keys to determining success in undergoing academics at the University level, but it is not yet known which type correlates with academic achievement. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between introvert and extrovert with student academic achievement. The subjects used in this study from the Department of PJKR, Suryakancana University (N = 20) and Halu Oleo (N = 20). Data analysis used SPSS version 25 to find descriptive statistics, normality, data linearity and person product moment correlation. The significance level used is 0.05. The results of the study found that introvert personality type correlated significantly with academic achievement in the high category (r = 0.749 **), and extrovert type personality did not significantly correlate with academic achievement (r = 120).  Thus, it can be concluded that the personality of students with introvert types is far superior to extroverts in academic achievement at the university level. The contribution in this research contributes to knowledge in the field of physical education psychology, so that later the lecturers can pay more attention and optimize academic achievement for students of both types, especially the extrovert type.
