Abstract

[EN] Public awareness of waste sorting starts from the source based on its composition is still very low, so the wet and dry waste mixed. The impact, waste potential as a resource decreases. The purpose of this study is to assess the recovery potential for municipal solid waste material recycling in landfill (final processing) to the development of sustainable waste infrastructure. So that waste which considered as the residue could become as resource, have economic value, and reduce the burden on landfill. This research method is doing survey and interview with scavengers to identify potential recycling of waste materials in the landfill Cipayung, Depok. Based on the results, the average waste that can be sold from the landfill is 45,74 kg / scavenger / day. The composition of waste collected by scavengers each day consists of plastic waste (51,04%); paper, cardboard, paperboard (23,80%); organic substances such as bones (14,27%); glass (5,78%); as well as aluminum and metal (5,11%). The recovery rate of recycled material from landfill to the rate of municipal solid waste transport that goes to landfill amounted to 3,16%. Average revenue per scavenger amounted Rp.65.000, - / day. The conclusion, waste in the landfill has the potential for recovery recycling and economic value. To avoid conflicts of interest from various parties, the necessary cooperation schemes needed for benefit to government, scavengers, and the industrial sector (eg private).
