Makna Simbolik Gondang Burogong Ditinjau Dari Variabel Instrumen Dan Fungsinya

Abstract

This research aims to explain things related to the symbolic meaning of gondang burogong in the Malay community of Pasir Pengaraian. The theory used in this research is as stated by John E. Kaemmer and Geertz. In its explanation, this research uses a qualitative approach using ethnomusicological theory. The results of the study show that gondang burogong has become an identity or symbolic meaning for the Malay community of Pasir Pengaraian wherever they are. This can be seen when they carry out various cultural arts activities, especially at wedding ceremonies. Thus, it can be concluded that the existence of gondang burogong has made a real contribution to the community that owns it. Therefore, it must be maintained and preserved so that the various uniqueness and meanings contained in it are not lost over time.
