ANALISIS FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI PERMINTAAN BAWANG MERAH DI KOTA PEKANBARU PROVINSI RIAU

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays an important role in the national development framework. One of the agricultural sectors that receives significant attention is the horticulture subsector. Shallots are one of the key commodities within this subsector. The demand for shallots in society is consistently high and cannot be matched by production. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the demand for shallots and to measure its elasticity level in Pekanbaru City. The sampling method employed accidental sampling with a total of 100 samples, and data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the SAS (Statistical Analysis System) program. The research was conducted over six months in several traditional markets in Pekanbaru City, including Pasar Pagi Arengka, Pasar Kodim, and Pasar Pusat. The results show a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.8007, indicating a strong explanatory power of the model. Of the seven variables examined, five were found to significantly affect the demand for shallots, namely the price of shallots, the price of garlic, the price of red chili, the price of cooking oil, and the number of family members. Meanwhile, the price of onions and household income had no significant effect. Garlic price and the number of family members were the most dominant factors influencing shallot demand. The demand for shallots in Pekanbaru City is inelastic with respect to changes in price, income, and the prices of other goods.
