Abstract

This research examines the United States' support for the Philippines in the South China Sea conflict after the PCA (Permanent Court of Arbitration) verdict with a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis method. In analyzing the dynamics of conflict and international support, researchers use the Balance of Power theory to see the balance of regional power, as well as the theory of the International Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) as a legal basis for maritime territory. The results of this study show that the United States' support for the Philippines after the PCA Decision includes several aspects including military defense, diplomatic support, and statements supporting freedom of navigation and respect for international law of the sea. This support not only aims to uphold the principles of international law of the sea, but also to maintain the balance of power in the South China Sea region to withstand China's dominance.
